X-ray Policies for New and Existing Patients

When we welcome new patients to our practice, we would like to know the condition of their current dental health. In order for us to do this, we would need the most updated dental x-rays taken. If you have been seen for your semi-annual exam and cleaning and have taken x-rays at that time, please contact your previous dental provider so that they may send your x-rays over to us either by email (if digital) or by mail (non-digital). If your x-rays have been taken over 12 months prior to your appointment with us, we are more than happy to take your routine x-rays at the time of your visit. We understand that there are concerns on radiation exposure; however, we keep an updated inspection of our x-ray machines to check for radiation leaks or malfunctions and use the most current technology in digital dental x-rays which significantly reduces radiation. Pregnant patients will not be able to have their x-rays taken but a copy of any previously taken dental x-rays will be most helpful to have. We understand that there may be some patients who are undergoing radiation treatment for medical purposes or have other conditions that may require avoiding even minimal radiation exposure. Please notify us of these conditions. Ultimately, x-rays help the doctor diagnose any dental problems and a comprehensive exam is not complete without them. We are committed to helping you achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums, so please allow us to update your dental x-rays or forward any recent dental x-rays in time for your visit.
